Live Anchored
By: Karl Clauson
Probably one of the most significant advantages a follower of Jesus has heading into 2026 is this: we don’t have to get hung up on the handlebars when it comes to politics, culture wars, or the hot-button issues of the day.
A genuine follower of Christ carries within them some compelling truths.
First, God is sovereign.
He’s pulling all the levers anyway. He raises leaders, and He takes them down. He holds the nations in his hands and knows every move of every day before it happens. I’ll be honest, there are times I don’t understand God’s plans. But I do trust Him, completely. And that changes my perception, even when a situation seems completely out of control. God’s got it.
Daniel 2:21; Isaiah 46:9–10
Second, we live here but belong to a different kingdom.
“We have died, and our life is hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:3). Because of that, we can fix our minds on things above. We can live with our feet planted in this world while our hearts and minds are anchored in another. And that anchor holds.
Colossians 3:1–3; Philippians 3:20
Third, this isn’t the end for us.
For many, this life is as good as it gets. But for the follower of Christ, this is just the warm-up. What’s coming is the best of this world without the worst—only the best, multiplied beyond anything we can imagine. All by grace.
2 Corinthians 4:17–18; Revelation 21:3–4
And finally, especially as this year gets crazier, people are not the enemy.
Full stop. Our battle is not against flesh and blood. Yes, there is a very real enemy at work behind the scenes—the prince and power of the air and his forces—but people are not the enemy. We must stop treating them like they are.
Ephesians 6:12; 2 Corinthians 10:3–5
So stay encouraged.
Quick recap for 2026:
• God is sovereign
• We belong to a different kingdom
• This life isn’t the end—it’s the beginning
• People are not the enemy
Live anchored.
Live hopeful.
Live differently.
